Sarah

Senior Stylist

WHAT IS YOUR SPECIALTY?
When I was first learning about hair, I immediately fell in love with cutting. Customizing a haircut to fit my client’s personality is what makes me feel the most artistic. Anything weird and unique is right up my alley. I am a total risk taker and I love to encourage that in my clients. I have a lot of fun with color, especially blondes, and will never pass up the opportunity to work with vivid colors!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
I studied cosmetology at Madison College in Wisconsin. I excelled in beauty school, won numerous awards for my accomplishments, and even competed in SkillsUSA. The learning did not stop after earning my cosmetology degree. I have taken classes on balayage, vivid colors, clipper cuts, business management and more. After working as a stylist in Madison, Wisconsin for a year, I made the move West and found myself at Frenchy’s. Now, I learn new techniques every single day from my peers.

DO YOU HAVE ANY OUTSIDE PROJECTS?
I have been a volunteer hair stylist for The Penguin Project. A foundation that puts on modified versions of famous musicals performed by children with various developmental disabilities. Every time I did it I had a blast, and I would love to do more work like that in the future.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO HAIR?
After highschool I went to a university in Wisconsin to study Music Performance and I was completely miserable. Instead of studying or socializing, I hung out in my dorm and spent hours painting my nails. My roommate suggested I try beauty school instead. That was the first time I had ever seriously considered getting into the beauty industry. Doing nails was initially what peaked my interest in cosmetology, but the more I learned about hair, the more I realized that was my true calling.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS TO USE?
I love Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair and Heat Relief Thermal Protector and Conditioner. I believe maintaining the hair’s health should always be a top priority and these products make a great combination to do just that. I also love the Cherry Almond Shampoo and Conditioner because they smell awesome and are very affordable.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT DOING HAIR?
I’m a total foodie. My partner Justin and I are always in the kitchen or trying a new restaurant. I am currently learning more about gardening so I can grow my own herbs. I’m not a natural green thumb so all tips are appreciated!

WHY FRENCHY’S?
Before making the move from Wisconsin to California I came to the Los Angeles area a few times to hand out my resume and introduce myself to salon owners. Frenchy’s stood out beyond all the other salons I visited. You can feel the welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door, and the rock n’ roll vibe is totally my style. I am extremely grateful things fell into place the way they did to allow me the opportunity to work for such a cool salon.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS.
I love to turn on some music and hula hoop. It's meditative to me and great exercise.

TELL US SOMETHING YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU.
To pay for college I worked as a Cheesemonger. At first I thought of it as just a fun side job to get me by, but I actually fell in love with everything cheese! Do you like cheese? Of course you do, it’s cheese.
